Ten Years After Horror, Rwandans Turn to Islam
2050

Africa countries, which were under oppression of colonialist states for years, give great importance to Islam and receive Qur’anic education. One of these countries is Rwanda of central Africa. When 800,000 of their countrymen were killed in massacres that began 10 years ago this week, many Rwandans turned to Islam. Today, in what is still a predominantly Catholic country, Islam is the fastest growing religion.

In the article by New York Times, the effects of 1994 massacre on Rwandans has been the issue.

Although no accurate census has been done, Muslims leaders in Rwanda estimate that there are about a million muslims, or about 15 percent of the population. That, too, would represent a doubling of their numbers in the past 10 years.
