Bediuzzaman Said Nursi explains the Mahdi will appear in the End Times, amidst the most difficult scenes. He is referring to the current era.

All these great sufferings being experienced will be resolved with the appearance of Jesus Messiah and the Mahdi.

The verses in the Qur’an inform us that Prophet Jesus will return God explains in the 55th verse of Surah Nur that the morality of Islam will reign in the world, and when that happens Mahdi will lead Muslims.

They put forth a problem but do not provide a solution. The Prophet Jesus (pbuh) and Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will be the ones to remove this lovelessness.
