They would never utter "If we knew how to fight, we would certainly follow you." Or they would never say "We are sacrificing our lives for no reason." They would go crazy, they would become quite eager if they received 10 pouches of gold.

"Being thankful" in the Qur’an means "being a sincere Muslim." Otherwise, one would make profit by selling weed and thank God. Or one would oppress people, sell weapons and thank to God. This is not how it is. One can be thankful to God only by fully adhering to the Quran and being sincere.
