Love is a very engrossing, a very amazing feeling. It is not like eating or drinking. It is the most pleasing blessing. If one asks, "Would you prefer eating or love?" It is love. If one asks, " Would you like us to give you a yacht or love?" The answer is love. What good would come out of a yacht? It is just a huge wooden thing. Think about going aboard in the middle of the sea? What would you do if there is no love? What good would that do? Or else let us imagine that you are given a castle but there is no love in it; that castle would turn into a giant prison. It would do no good.

In the beginning of the verses of the Qur'an, God's Names Rahman and Rahim are recited. "Bismillahirrahmanirrahim". Rahman and Rahim, God; meaning God, the One Who knows and shows love very well and the One Who wants love from us. "Rahman" because He is the Protective, He is the One Who watches over, He is the One Who forgives, He is the One Who wants good for people.

God does not tell us to "worship Him," but He tells us to "sincerely worship Him." God lays that as a condition in any case. Love is given as a blessing reserved only for those sincere ones.

The whole of the Qur'an is based on love. But if you directly present love, you would be entering a great beauty right from the center. That is why a way of explaining aimed directly on love, rationality and spirit is needed. Whichever verse you open and read you will see that they all aim for love.

God says; "Make allowances for people, command what is right, and turn away from the ignorant." What happens when we make allowances for people? The obstacles before love is removed. Love unites. "… and turn away from the ignorant." Ignorance depresses people. Ignorance suffocates love. When you turn away from the ignorant you would be protecting love. "Command what is wrong." What happens when you command right? Love increases, love develops.

You forgive, you pardon and thus remove the block that stands in front of love. When you forgive you would be removing the wall in front of love.

If you protect the needy, what would they feel for you? They would love you. What would be the first feeling they would feel? Love. For instance, you give them a gift and they thank you. What is thanks? Their eyes sparkle. Why? Out of love. Love would be formed in their hearts towards you instantly. Our Prophet (saas) says "" What is the goal here? Love.

Fear of God constitutes the mainframe of love. You show patience because of fear of God, you show compassion, you become helpful and generous because of fear of God. All these form the mainframe of love.

Look at the Qur'an as a whole; love prevails throughout the whole of the Qur'an. The Qur'an lays the ground for love. The Qur'an settles the foundation of love on a very steady ground with the fear of God, with the love of God and the threat of Hell.

What does "salam" mean? It means love. " It means no harm will come to you from me." Then what does it mean? It means keep your heart at ease and in comfort, be happy. Look at the origin of all these words, all these expressions, there is love, deep in the origin of all these words.

Thanking God, saying “Alhamdulillah” is a way of showing love. "Oh Lord I do thank You," you say. What does thanking mean? If there is no love inside that, it loses its whole meaning. The meaning of it will be completed only if there is love in it.

“Rahman and Rahim." These Names are all about love. The whole aim of the Qur'an is love. The goal of the fear of God is love. Those who fear God pave the way for love. Those who fear God would easily love and be loved yet those who do not fear God would neither be easily loved nor love.

The best course of action is to be forgiving, to act as people of peace, to see goodness in everything. People are created as weak, they are not strong enough to deal with troubles. Feeling rage towards one, messing with another person, screaming at them, conspiring against another: All you have is a small, weak body. How can your weak body deal with all that pain, with all that filth? Be honest, sincere and immaculate.

Those who attempt to forgive murderers are the most debased, most ignominious, most honorless, most treacherous of the world. I cannot think of having less character on top of that. There will never be forgiveness for those men and for the traitors of the PKK. Those who want them forgiven are even more debased.

If you release the murderers, it would come to mean that it is okay to kill people. The push button for the Last Day would then be pressed. The Last Day will break loose.

Granting an amnesty for murderers is the gravest danger for Turkey. That will be the sign for Turkey’s ruin. If one forgives those who martyred our soldiers and police officers, that person is the most debased, most characterless man in the world.

One cannot have a beautiful morality simply by saying, 'Let me have good morality.' Good morality can only be attained by fearing God, by loving God. Otherwise one would not be generous. He would feel pain inside when he gives something to someone. Forgiving would make him enraged. Without faith, without the fear of God, forgiving becomes very unnerving.

Forgiveness is a characteristic God appreciates greatly. That is because revenge might give a lowly pleasure to one's soul, but forgiving is hard; I mean it [forgiveness] necessitates will-power and wisdom. That is because in forgiveness one does not achieve satisfaction, but revenge might bring satisfaction. That is why God takes forgiveness as a basis.

People believe in God's forgiveness but they do not want to be forgiving; that is not acceptable. Just like a person knows that God would forgive him, he has to know to be forgiving as well.

There should be no pride involved in love, since if there is pride, love ends. Pride and lack of forgiveness are the poisons of love. People thus fail in managing love. However, forgiveness, bringing your pride under control, putting your pride aside, this clears the way for love to the fullest extent.

God orders Muslims to forgive, to persevere and create a serene environment under all conditions.

Anger only brings harm, jealousy only causes damage. Forgiveness and love would win us friends.

When the time comes and a Muslim becomes a martyr, that is what God loves the most; that is the highest form of love. That is because it means one gives his life for God. Isn't one's life precious? He says, "My Lord, You made me love my life, I love You more than my life. My life is Yours. I am Yours." This is what it means. That is why Almighty God keeps martyrs in a separate place and does not make them die. They do not taste death.

Martyrdom is what God likes the most. God finds the greatest love in that. But a Muslim should will for that, not just randomly but should sincerely and wholeheartedly will for that praying "My Lord, I ask martyrdom from You."

Some people never accept patience and ordeals, yet ask directly for blessings. That is unacceptable. You can neither attain Heaven like that nor attain the good pleasure of God. This is a place of trial not a place of fun. Almighty God says, "If We had desired to have some amusement, We would have derived it from Our Presence, but We did not do that." Heaven is the place of amusement, there is no such thing in this world.
