When they talk about religion they assume that it is all about memorizing the verses, knowing the Qur'an by heart and reciting the verses with tajwid, being careful about idgham (merging). Actually the essence and the wisdom in the Qur'an is what is important. I mean putting the meaning in the Qur'an into practice is important, not reciting the Qur'an by being careful with idgham and qalqalah (adding a slight bounce or reduced vowel sound). Arabs can do that effortlessly in the best manner, but there are also a lot of them who do not put those verses into life, into practice. - Harun Yahya
