The Autumn Crocus: A Plant That Treats FMF Pain When autumn arrives, most plants wither and retreat from nature. The autumn crocus, however, sprouts from beneath the soil and rises just at that very moment. The colchicine molecule found in this plant affects the microtubule system, which forms part of the internal skeleton of human cells, and suppresses inflammation. In other words, a plant that grows quietly beneath the soil can precisely intervene in a system located deep within the human body. This remarkable harmony cannot be explained by coincidence. Coincidence cannot establish a target, generate knowledge, or connect two separate systems with such extraordinary precision. In severe and chronic diseases such as Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), colchicine suppresses attacks, protects the kidneys, and improves quality of life. It has also been discovered that this substance is effective in treating gout, inflammation of the pericardium, and many other conditions. Have you noticed the breathtaking harmony between the needs of the human body and this beautiful flower? Have you noticed the healing hidden beneath the soil and the flawless plan behind it? Allah manifests His name Ash-Shafi—The Healer—through the autumn crocus, showing us the power of His mercy. Healing comes from Allah; order comes from Allah. And this truth reveals itself clearly even in a tiny plant hidden beneath the soil… All we need to do is look… All we need to do is truly see… How many Signs there are in the heavens and earth! Yet they pass them by, turning away from them. Most of them do not believe in Allah without associating others with Him. (Surah Yusuf, 12:105–106)
