Quote
Hypocrites gather foul things: In other words, they do not seek anything regarding the faith or the Qur'an. They go after anything that is snobbish, sneaky, anything that will help them make a name for themselves among the disbelievers, anything that will help them prove themselves to other hypocrites. They prioritize their own promotion by doing so

Quote
The most distinguishing characteristic of hypocrites is their desire to stand out. They want to attribute any achievement to themselves, not to the Prophet (pbuh). Or they don't want to attribute success to Muslims’ leader of that era, they only arrogate it to themselves. They are only after their own glory and reputation.

Quote
Hypocrites are foolish in every aspect but when they are possessed by satan, their evil souls emerge. For example, if they get in touch with people outside the Muslim community, they begin to write, talk and commit foul deeds in a swift manner. They excel at hiding themselves. But they achieve all these things with the help of the wisdom they obtain from satan. Otherwise, they are like planks of wood in every way.

Believers make a name for themselves through God, through their faith, Islam, and the Qur'an. Hypocrites try to make a name for themselves through idle actions. They do not realize they are debasing themselves with unworthy actions and continue to do so.

Connections are really important for a hypocrite. Thus, they constantly try to make friends out of disbelievers, tricksters and foul people. They believe, on the off chance of them becoming lonely in the future, that these people will provide them with employment and food.

Hypocrites spend all their lives in manipulation, deception, secrecy, sedition and villainy; they know no rest. But they consider their villainy, their struggle, to be what life is all about, as if this is something they must go through in life. They never settle for an honest, normal life.

Hypocrites always try to stand out around others. They try to patronize others. They are know-it-alls who want to win at everything. They always want to be right. Their behavior can be considered maniacal, in a sense.

Quote
Hypocrites despise Muslims as they consider themselves superior. They consider themselves wise and intelligent. They think of themselves as "magnificent" creatures that are way ahead of Muslims. However, Almighty God does not agree with them in this regard. So, as the hypocrites are weak-minded, they are not aware of it and ultimately become disgraceful.

Quote
The hypocrite is a devil who tries to destroy Muslims from within by joining them. It is the most foul, most treacherous specimen of humanity and it is not possible to contend with hypocrites with an average level of intelligence. They can only be contended with through the guidance of the prophets and the depth of authority. Otherwise, hypocrites are clever and merciless. They have incredible means and are quite diabolical.

How can something be considered right if the opposite of it does not exist? How will we be tried if satan and the lower-self do not exist? How can we recognize what is beautiful, what is right? Hypocrites communicate with disbelievers, but believers do not know about this. They exchange information with disbelievers, but believers are not aware of this. They use cryptic texts disguised as a poem or a prose, but believers cannot comprehend it. All of these actions lead the hypocrites to have a delusion of superiority. We should decipher it, break their codes; they are neutralized when their codes are deciphered.

Fiercely defending one's own desires is a mental illness. One should get a grip on himself in this situation and take refuge in God. He should ask himself, "How did I turn into such an abnormal person?" He should listen to what others have to say in a reasonable manner. A Muslim is open to 'al-amr bi-l-maʿrūf wa-n-nahy ʿani-l-munkar' (enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong). Therefore, he becomes wiser with ease.

Occasionally, Muslims with a sickness in their hearts might act like a hypocrite. They are not hypocrites per se, but they have a sickness in their hearts; God informs us of this in a verse of the Qur'an, saying, "They have sickness in their hearts." They act in the exact manner of a hypocrite. This is a phase they are going through. Sometimes they recover from it, and sometimes they succumb to the disease that is hypocrisy.

Some people use crying as their weapon when things contradict their interests. This is a devilish method of fussing in order to arouse pity for themselves, in order to acquire something, in order to object to something, to frustrate the other party. When hypocrites talk, they talk with malice. When they talk, they talk instigation or trouble, or bad luck, or a reason to argue, or something to mess with, or delusion, or a devilish urge. What about a believer? He always talks in a way that brings prosperity, tranquility, a way that removes instigation, a way that brings comfort to the heart.

The hypocrite never takes upon himself the Qur’anic verses about hypocrites; only a believer does that. A Muslim realizes that with terror and astonishment; he says to himself, what have I done? I have sunk deep into the signs of hypocrite, I have sunk deep into a swamp and I have to get away. He gives up completely; he ends it fundamentally in his heart because it is clear that he cannot live with it: Besides he had already seen how filthy it was.

If you are looking for the Mahdi's group, God presents evidence in the Qur’an. He says, “Follow those who do not ask you for any wage” When we look at religious scholars and teachers, we see that almost all of them are getting paid: Ninety nine percent of them are getting paid. If you want to find the Mahdi group, you will recognize them when they don’t ask for a wage.

Sometimes a hypocrite takes shelter; you have to be very careful with that. He temporarily hides himself. He will have sudden attacks. If a person continues to be a hypocrite even though he acknowledges the signs of hypocrisy [from the Qur’an], then he is a hypocrite himself. However, if he is making changes in himself, then this means he is sick, and he is just trying to recover from his disease. The hypocrite has no option but to look like a Muslim, so that no one would perceive him or understand him. While employing this strategy, he suffers as he realizes that he is serving Islam in some way. The supreme God states that in a Qur’anic verse, and says, “They bite their fingers.”

They take serious offense from being referred to along with Islam and the Qur’an. Take a look at our century. It is impossible to see Muslim-like statements, verses or activities of Muslims, or expressions from the Qur’an in anything a hypocrite posts or draws on his page online, or in any other media.

Hypocrites do not want to look like Muslims. For instance, when they are not with Muslims they make sure they appear like unbelievers. They are ashamed of being Muslims. They take offense from being seen with the Qur’an, and with Muslims. They take pleasure from being remembered with unbelief. They think it is showy.

Hypocrites attack you, they hoot and holler, they act disgracefully. They have no respect for anything. They are always presumptuous. We see these characteristics in all the hypocrites in history.

Hypocrites condemn everything. Condemn this, condemn that; they constantly discredit Muslims. They interrupt charity, love, and joy. They interrupt friendship. They do not want believers to be in peace, so they continuously do nasty things.

Hypocrites are like bats; they need villainy just as much as bats need blood. In any case they have to get involved in this filth. Even if it is only two or three people, hypocrites will feel relieved like bloodsucker vampire bats when they come into contact with unbelief.

Hypocrites always move in the dead of night. They need silence. The very first thing these hypocrites would do in the dark is to get in touch with unbelievers, providing immediate intelligence to them. They cannot live any other way.

God appreciates martyrdom and getting wounded in His way. He appreciates preaching religion until late at night. What God also likes is the effortful search for His love. Only then God bestows this love and passion to those who are worthy.

God loves love and passion very much. Angels love Him too, but God does not find this enough because the angel is bound to love. However, the love of humans, who suffer in pain, is God’s favorite.

Quote
God is love; God is endearment. God wants to be loved and to love, but He wants real love, not something you would get from a robot. That is, love from someone who loves not out of obligation but by his own will. That is why God created passion and love. God lives within His creatures; for instance when we feel passion, God feels it too.

When you advise hypocrites to talk about God, they go crazy, you tell them to stay away from blasphemy, they go crazy. It is like satan’s session. You know how satan goes mad all of a sudden? That is how they go mad out of nowhere. That is why you have to be very careful and even-tempered when you talk to hypocrites.

You need to be very attentive while talking to a hypocrite. When they are prescribed goodness and proscribed evil, they become insane, enraged. Since their souls welcome rebellion and fiendishness, they feel very uncomfortable.

The most distinct characteristic of hypocrites, see, you should never forget this; in any case, they will come into contact with blasphemy. You will be astonished, they turn up like bad pennies, and they will absolutely make that contact with blasphemy. This is their most persistent quality and this is because they need it for intelligence.

Hypocrites feel suffocated if they do not come into contact with blasphemy. In any case they will figure out a way to come into contact with blasphemy. That is what they thrive on. You will never see a hypocrite who does not have some connection with blasphemy. Making mischievous and secret contact is an irrevocable quality of the hypocrite; it is their disease.

This filth is deep down inside of hypocrites. They yearn for it. They want a constant connection with blasphemy. Muslims bother them. In other words, talking about Islam and the Qur’an disturbs hypocrites.

Hypocrites are a great danger to the world of Islam. Every now and then they take a step back but this is almost always temporary. They will go back to meanness and foulness again. That is to say, you should always watch out for the hypocrite.

There is no difficulty in Islam: God wants it to be convenient as He emphasizes that in verses multiple times, and says that the Prophet Abraham’s (as) religion is easy. In another verse He says, “God desires ease for you; He does not desire difficulty for you.” (2/185) Islam is like a festival; it is a religion of joy. Things like hanging people, cutting them up, beating people, blasphemy, making women’s lives miserable do not exist in it. Islam considers women to be flowers.

“The men and women of the hypocrites are as bad as one another.” (Surat at-Tawba, 67) God does not distinguish between them. Hypocrites are no different to one another. They should be able to live with unbelievers but they cannot; they can only live with one another, as a distinct , or 200 or 1000 people are no good. You must have at least a million people there every time. The state should organize that; the air should ring with people shouting, ‘Allahu Akbar (God is Great)’
