The minds of many of those around the Prophet Moses (pbuh) were wrapped up with the unbelievers. I mean they'd gone to the desert but they did not forget the life they'd had back in Egypt. They were infatuated with everything about Egypt, they admired that ancient Egyptian culture, those cows, the life back there, their way of eating and drinking. I keep saying this insistently; had they advocated the modern understanding of Islam in Egypt, the whole of Europe and the US would have supported them. The whole world would love them, recognizing them as an amazing power as well. One should perform prayers, fast, give alms, make pilgrimage yet they should simply be modern. They resist this. Quote
