Many people are after their own pleasure and their own joy and use Islam to that end. They keep busy with their trade, looking for ways to eat, drink and travel, to get married and get on with their lives. This is the mindset of a great portion of the Islamic world. That is why God ruins the Islamic world. God wants them to turn towards Him yet they do not. God says, "You are after the transient blessings of this world but the Hereafter is the abode that is auspicious and beautiful, if you only knew."

What is perfect morality? It is patience, compassion, self-sacrifice, honesty, bravery and loyalty. Without fear of God, one would fall into heedlessness. For instance, one might say that he loves God but not perform prayers, saying, "I love God, God doesn't need my prayers." He might have a lot of money but not give alms, saying, "Those in need can find it elsewhere. I do love God and money makes me happy, it helps me be close to God." Or perhaps, one does not act bravely, saying, "I should not risk my life, I am living nicely here." But in fear of God one shows courage.

Without love, without passion, without profundity, without real love; what are you looking for, everything loses its meaning. You know as some say, those left behind are beastly people. They are so repulsive, so disturbing to us, we have trouble calling them humans. But if one is self-sacrificing, courageous, patient, determined and brave we feel an admiration for him.

We are the radiant face of Islam for the whole world. When those who know Islam as a horrible, introverted, loveless system that has a grudge against women, that has turned life into a horror, see Islam as we live it, when they see Islam as it was lived at the time of the Companions, they feel an admiration for Islam. And they recognize that Islam is their salvation. Otherwise, they are all in misery.

Being called "crazy" shows the perfection of a Muslim's faith. Our prophet (saas) says, "A Muslim cannot attain perfection in faith unless he is called crazy." Actually, because of their loyalty to Islam, to the Qur'an, because of their enthusiasm, it is said, "If you had seen the Companions, you would have called them crazy." They distribute all they have, everything they own.

It is of course very important to be at our Prophet (saas)'s elbow. It is a great comfort for the Companions of our Prophet (saas). Actually people do not know the Islamic community that well. Muslims are like a big family. If one has a mansion with thirty rooms for instance, he fills it will Muslims, the food is cooked for all of them. The goods are distributed. Trade is done together, everything is shared and done commonly. That is an unprecedented system.

Family, getting married, having children are all matters that the hypocrites prefer to religion. That is why they remain irresolute between religion and their idols. Hypocrites idolize their families; they idolize their children. They regard them as leverage against Islam.

The Companions of our Prophet (saas) always strove for the sake of God. But the hypocrites always had excuses like ‘our houses are exposed' or ‘we would have come if we knew how’. However, if they were told that they would be given gold, they would have immediately obliged. That is because it would have served their interests. However, one's interests should always be in showing good morality; one should choose faith and reward from God instead of gold. Otherwise one would start to turn into an animal.

God gives you a three dimensional image and you view it inside your brain; He gives you the ability to smell beautiful scents so that you smell them; He gives you the ability of tasting so that you find pleasure in those tastes; He gives you the sense of touch so that you touch, you swim in the sea, you go boating, you enjoy the world to the utmost; but when it comes to the Creator, you say, "I do not want to be the object of this." God would then plague you. This world is not a place of entertainment.

If you give fanaticism an inch, it takes a mile. It is very dangerous. The state must adopt a determined policy to spread modern thinking, a modern state structure and a modern conception of art. In other words, one must live by a modern Islam. What does modern mean? Like in the time of the Companions.

Having a glorious, scary army is the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas). For instance, he didn't let the soldiers cut their mustaches short; they even grew their nails. The Companions of our Prophet (saas) had such a ravenous and scary appearance. They had handlebar moustaches reaching till the ends of their ears. Those who looked at them were shivering with fear, they feared them greatly. It would be great if our soldiers had such a staggering appearance. Especially regarding the PKK; our soldiers should be their nightmare.

The Islamic world is groveling right now because of their superstitions; they are ruined because of that. Radicalism brings along timidity. When that is the case, the bravery and self-reliance of the companions is not formed.

Prophet Jesus (pbuh) will come as the vizier of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), that is what our Prophet (saas) foretold. In order to honor the Mahdi, in order to emphasize his greatness, Almighty God sends Jesus Messiah as his vizier. The greatness of the Mahdi could be appreciated from that alone. He is the last guide. He is the greatest guide, the greatest Saint of all times. That is to say, imam Mahdi is superior to the Companions.

This is a transient world. All those people that you admire die and go. All those buildings that you admire will fall into pieces and they are already falling down. You hold those clothes, those pieces of fabric, etc., in high esteem whereas you should be admiring God, admiring the Qur'an.

This life is short, our life in hereafter is the real one.

Some people assume they will live for all eternity in this world but they will certainly pass away in quite a short period of time.

The life of this world is very brief and it is a brief trial. People need to think about it and understand it.

God created an amazing environment for testing. The short human life, diseases, troubles; they are all a part of our test in this world. Most people are stuck in their test, not really seeing they’re being tested. Because they are not sincere with God, God punishes them.

Religion is quite easy and plain. There is love, compassion, friendship, brotherhood, forgiveness, generosity, self-sacrifice, bravery. How nice generosity is; for instance, there is a person you love and you see that he doesn't have anything. You act generously and it makes him happy and pleased. That would do you good as well.

Not being self-sacrificing is a grave lack of conscience, it is a lack of moral turpitude. For instance, those Syrians who took refuge in our country are inoffensive people. Of course sheltering them brings about a financial burden and difficulties but it is worth the sacrifice. Let our money be spent instead of watching those children and households be annihilated, see them tortured and in suffering.

A vindictive person cannot attain quality. To attain quality, there should exist a forgiving, self-sacrificing nobility that would face up to all sorts of sacrifice for the beloved ones.

God loves self-devotion, self sacrifice. That is why God loves martyrdom. This is one of the beauties God loves the most. God calls it "one of the two best things." God calls martyrdom and becoming disabled while striving on the Path of God as the two best things. That is one's losing his arm, his leg on the Path of God. God likes this very much.

Honesty is a fundamental characteristic of a Muslim. A Muslim would face difficulty himself if need be, but would never do anything to impose and be a burden on his Muslim brothers.

The lover would do all kinds of sacrifices for their beloved one. If need be, he would sacrifice his own life for God, and protect and watch over the beloved one. He would take great care to prevent her honor, her pride, her chastity, and to prevent any harm to her mind or her body. He would pay attention to her food, her drink, her sleep and everything about her. This is the sign of a lover. He would protect her at all costs.

Hypocrites ask the Prophet to excuse them, saying, ´Our houses are exposed,´ when they were not exposed. What do they mean by saying that their houses are exposed? They mean to say, "I have a family at home, I need to take care of them, of their education. I need to bring food to my spouse at home, I need to take care of her. My store is exposed as well. My trade is mired down, I need to take care of that." Well my brother, alright, but they are killing, martyring Muslims all over. Is your store more important or their being martyred?
