The Prophet Joseph (pbuh) is an honest person through and through. He did not act with his instincts but with his good conscience. Where did his good conscience take him? To prison. He placed his trust in God and what happened eventually? Almighty God made him the Sultan of Egypt. He ate the most beautiful food, wore the most beautiful clothes and is given the most beautiful ranks in Heaven.

It might appear as if one would lose a lot when he goes by his good conscience. Actually, that would be the right form of behavior. For instance, prophets act in line with their good conscience and go to war, suffer through ordeals and pains. But eventually they become the best ones in the world.

The first affliction that comes upon a person when he does not act by his good conscience is the loss of his mind. Such a person would lose his mind. Would he be aware of his situation? No, he won't be aware: That is because he would be left to his intelligence alone, so he cannot understand his situation. His mind would be lost and he would be left to his intelligence alone. God generally does not take away one's intelligence, but He takes away his mind. Except for some rare occasions, God does not take away one's intelligence. However when God takes away one's mind, his intelligence would no longer have any use for him. His intelligence would only get him into troubles from then on. Intelligence would make him grovel.

Going by one's good conscience is difficult, but the fruit of it is beautiful. Logic, on the other hand, is easy to follow but its fruit is bitter.

In the Qur'an God says, ' , in spite of their own certainty about them.' They resisted their good conscience. Otherwise their good conscience demands the right choice and tells them to "do". But they crush it. That is why their faces are darkened. Or else when people do not resist their good conscience, when they listen to the stirrings of their conscience, their faces will be radiant.

Some people go by their logic instead of their good conscience. They say, 'I listen to the voice of my logic.' My brother, you would grovel if you do that. Logic might appear as if it will save people in the first sight. One might think that following logic will always give way to things that will be in his favor, that will always be at their sweet will, and that will serve their interests. Actually logic would constantly drag people into troubles.

Those who only use their logic would always grovel. But in the beginning, they appear as if they will be wining. Those who go by their conscience might appear to be losing in the beginning, but they will always win eventually.

It might appear as if a person loses a lot while acting in all sincerity; the fact is, however, that person gains a lot in secret. You look at that person and see that he gets into trouble and loses his goods, his means. However God eventually gives him abundance. In the meantime, the other one might think that he will attain goods and means by crushing his good conscience but the world escapes from him while he pursues worldly goals. That person would suffer enormously. That is a devastating groveling, a devastating chase.

There is no place for superstitions in faith. Religion is very rationalistic; the miracles of the Qur'an, presented with scientific evidence and facts leading to faith, all conform with rationality. The path of reason should be opened. The way to think rationally should be demonstrated. The beauty of thinking conscientiously and sincerely should be taught. When one thinks sincerely, he would attain faith anyway.

Ingratitude is the only reason behind God's giving that many troubles in this world. Without gratitude, there would be ingratitude. All these sufferings are the retaliation of that ingratitude. Ingratitude is so horrible. It is such a grave remorselessness.

Faith is the sincere belief in one's subconscious. Or else one's mind might come and go. I mean all kinds of opinions might pass through one's mind. For instance, one might think if something is right or wrong; these are ideas inside one's brain. Ideas would be like a storm in one’s mind. They have nothing to do with faith. They are called the whisperings of satan. Faith is something settled in, I mean a sincere conviction that is intertwined with, one's consciousness, one’s good conscience.

God wants a solidified faith; that can only be attained with a sincere soul. It is not possible to attain that without sincere good conscience.

One says ,"When I make a mistake, my good conscience disturbs me, it makes me unable to breath." That stems from letting Satan suffocate you. Why is there the need for that, my brother? You simply put your trust in God and that is it, you repent to God. What does repentance mean? You hope God will accept your repentance. Then, what does being suffocated mean? That would mean that you do not trust God. If you've made a mistake, you've made the mistake in your destiny. Did you decide to never to do it again? You did. If you are determined about this, that takes care of it.

Using one's wit means being in sincere connection with God and trying to see the signs of God knowing in which points Satan would distort one's mind, without getting agitated. That is because God is the One Who leads the mind. One would differentiate the wrong and the dangerous when one abides by his conscience; God inspires him, God makes him feel what the right choice is.

Not being self-sacrificing is a grave lack of conscience, it is a lack of moral turpitude. For instance, those Syrians who took refuge in our country are inoffensive people. Of course sheltering them brings about a financial burden and difficulties but it is worth the sacrifice. Let our money be spent instead of watching those children and households be annihilated, see them tortured and in suffering.

Living by Islam means beginning to live entirely in accordance with one’s conscience. It means entirely abandoning the mentality of denying the existence of God.

Two forces struggle for supremacy in the human soul – conscience and logic. A believer must be always on the side of good conscience. When he heeds his conscience, God will always send him prosperity and goodness. Islam is growing very fast. Acting upon one’s logic always ruins people.

Forbidding looking beautiful, attractive, alluring, handsome does not lead to virtue, to chastity. Being virtuous and chaste is only possible through compassion and wisdom.

A great majority of people are quite knowledgeable but only people with a deep conscience comprehend God and attach themselves to Him.

People surprisingly live distant to God. A person of normal level of conscience cannot stay indifferent to the oppression existent in today’s world.

The important thing is raising conscientious, loving people. When a society has no love, there will always be someone to lead them to evil.

If one silences one’s conscience, his conscience will surely catch up with him and will continue to warn him. Conscience is the system God uses to guide people.

God doesn't want people to suffer. God only wants us to be honest and follow our conscience. God says ‘Don't forget Me, and I won’t forget you.’ Forgetting God is truly an atrocity. God wants to be loved and remembered.

If a person has a high level of conscience, he sees evidences of God’s existence and he always acts in favor of God. God loves this.

I haven’t gone on a vacation in 40 years. Whether it is a snowy or a hot summer day, I've never stopped preaching Islam. My conscience would never accept anything else.
