One who hasn't proven his loyalty, his patience or his courage wouldn't have a feeling of self-worth in that sense. That means he couldn't regard himself as worthy and beautiful if he didn't make sacrifices, if he didn't act generously, if he didn't strive on the path of God, if he didn't do anything to show his love.
