Allah had done them the favor; their churches should be open anyway, they will be performing their religious services freely anyway. NO ONE COULD INTERFERE WITH THE OTHER. THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION. NO ONE CAN TYRANNIZE THE OTHER. YOU CANNOT TYRANNIZE A MUSLIM AND YOU CANNOT TYRANNIZE A CHRISTIAN, NOR A JEW. Also for a Jew; that is not done as if we were granting them a favor. Not in a manner saying; "we are dominant over you, we are granting you a favor so you can perform your religious services." That is not what is meant here. Allah granted them that anyway. They can perform their religious duties as ever they like.
