Life is beautiful for Muslims. For unbelievers life is always distressful, painful and restricted. A Muslim is always thankful; even if he eats dry bread, he thanks God for it.

Muslims are brothers. God says, "Muslims are each other's protecting friends." Let us create a system in which all Muslims would love one another. They are all brothers. Look, God says “'s protecting friends," meaning they are each other's protectors. They take care of one another, they help each other, they take care of each other when they are ill, they take care of everything about each other. I mean, they take care of each other like they would take care of a child.

Muslims are one another's brothers. They should love one another and protect each other, watch over one another. They will look at each other with good intentions with love and look for goodness in each other, both in good days and in bad days. They will not look at each other with prejudice or with political intent. No matter from which party they are, no matter from which walk of life they are, we have to look out for them. Muslims are each other's brothers and sisters and they are protective friends of one another.

None of us will remain in this world. What important is to go to the Hereafter with one's honor. Martyrs are going to the Hereafter with such an honor.

The families of the martyrs are very honorable people. They can feel honored with their children God covers in blessings. That is because God has taken their children directly to His heaven. They have become the people, the lambs of Heaven. That makes them the mothers, the fathers of those lambs of Heaven. What a great beauty, what a honorable parenthood. The reward God gives those mothers and fathers because of their patience will be abundant.

Mourning is a custom of idolatry, a custom that was in practice in ancient Sumeria, Mesopotamia, the Hittites, in ancient Greek, in ancient Egypt. In numerous hadiths, our prophet (saas) has prohibited mourning. It is against the Qur'an. It is rebellion –may God forbid- to the blessings of God. It is not an act that befits Muslims; the meaning behind it is atrocious. There is no mourning in Islam.

If the TV channels report news about martyrs with cries and bellows, that serves the purposes of the PKK. But if we have parents proud of their sons, holding their heads high, that would cripple the PKK.

They should quit playing the funeral march for the martyrs. That is very disturbing. It is such weird, depressing music and absolutely unnecessary. Martyrs should be sent off with salawats, by saying Allahu Akbar and should be shown round the city.

Let us spoil the plans of the PKK; I mean, let us clear away their plots to gain strength using our martyrs. For instance if you walk the martyr for hours around the city with salawats, making the place resound, that would not serve the purposes of the PKK. That is because it would create an enormous spiritual tension and everyone would side with the martyrs.

Especially while bidding farewell to our martyrs, displaying their families crying, throwing themselves on the coffins, bellowing, fainting is what the PKK wants. Or else, if we were to hold the funerals of our martyrs with salawats by saying Allahu Akbar, that would not serve the purposes of the PKK and would be the most galling thing of all for the PKK.

Let us please put aside the habit of crying at the funerals of martyrs. It is not in compliance with the Qur'an, it is not in compliance with our customs; there is no such habit in the morality of Islam. That is a custom observed since the ancient Sumerians. It is not appropriate to cry after those who have gone to Heaven.

A Muslim trusts the promise of God. Almighty God says, "I do not break My promise. If you attain sincerity, if you become Muslims, I will put you in My Heaven." A Muslim would not, and cannot, say. "I wonder if that is true."

Clean and purify yourself. Muslims are clean, immaculate, pure people. What does pure mean? It means purified. God gives people weaknesses and we are to get rid of those impurities and weaknesses, and attain the beauty of Heaven. A Muslim would be radiant and immaculately clean.

A believer should always be in good spirits, full of life. If they feel down, sad or distressed about something, or they're bothered by something, the body will want to sleep to get rid of that feeling. But if one is happy, the body wouldn't want sleep, it would want to get up and live life instead.

In the Qur'an, God prohibited sorrow. A Muslim should put aside sorrow through faith. There is no good in sorrow; it merely harms people. Sorrow is a poison that wrecks life, it lays the grounds for illnesses. Joy, on the other hand, is nourishment for the body.

Mourning is unlawful according to religion, it is an ancient pagan custom. As the ancient Sumerians, ancient Egyptians, Persians, Hittites did not believe in the afterlife, in martyrdom, they considered death as a disaster. They would cry as to rebel against God. Us Muslims regard martyrdom as [achieving] an honorable rank.

Mourning was practiced by ancient Summerians, Akkadians, Hittites, Egyptians and other idol-worshiping tribes; it is forbidden in the Quran through a large number of verses and hadiths. It completely contradicts putting trust in God.

A believer only weeps out of joy and happiness. He would never cry out of grief.

Believers should always be cheerful. Humans are created weak and such a being cannot afford to feel grief; that would destroy him.

Let the joy, beauty, excitement of faith spread all over. We want the happiness, beauty of heaven. We do not want tears. Believers should not cry and should always be happy. There is an attempt to hurt believers with grief.

Putting trust in God is obligatory; feeling grief is not acceptable.

Martyrdom is a reason for joy. Martyrdom is an honor. It is wrong to grieve after martyrs; grieving is a pagan tradition.

Martyrdom is something to rejoice in. It is an honor, a blessing; it is not something to mourn about. Only idolaters mourn about death. Only unbelievers cry for such things. In the Qur’an God says, “Let them laugh less and cry a lot.” And what do you say? You say, “Do not laugh!” God says that for idolaters. Muslims do laugh, and they only cry out of love for God.

This is the classic method of the PKK and they bomb their own supporters and cause public indignation. In this way they try to draw people to their side. During this time of terror and violence, they say, "Look, as you can see, the fascists are bombing you, they are oppressing you. That means the only solution is war. You should go up the mountains and take up arms." This is the image the PKK is trying to create.
