One acts impertinently against our Prophet (saas) and God heaps troubles upon him. He struggles against religion and God heaps troubles upon him. What is meant by jihad in the verses of the Qur'an is struggling; an intellectual struggle, an effort, all sorts of activities. People tend to take it as if it means "hanging people and chopping them up." The fact is however, jihad is the name of the effort put on the path of God.
